What really happened in Guelph
Michael Doyle here.
If you’ve been following what we’ve been up to at The XC, you may have noticed that I’ve been less active over the past couple of months. This is because I was working with the Globe and Mail on an investigation of Dave Scott-Thomas, once Canada’s most celebrated distance running coach. Last fall, Mr. Scott-Thomas was secretly placed on leave by his employer, the University of Guelph.
In the last three months I’ve interviewed more than 70 former athletes and coaches in order to piece together what went on in Guelph, which is known as “Canada’s running capital.”
One former athlete in particular, Megan Brown (pictured above in 2001), has bravely decided to step forward and share her story.
Feel free to forward this to others you know in the running community. I feel that it’s an important story that hopefully will enact positive change in our sport.
